This inner city suburb located 1 kilometre west of Brisbane's central business district is home to two Queensland icons: the Castlemaine XXXX Brewery and Suncorp Stadium.

According to the 2001 Census there were 1,695 people living in the suburb with a median age of 29. The median individual income was between $400 and $499 per week. Of all occupied private dwellings 37% were either fully owned or being purchased; 53% were being rented.

Due to its near city location the rental demand in Milton is strong. REIQ research indicates three in every five residential properties are available for rent.

The suburb is walking distance from the central business district and contains excellent transport facilities including a rail station and regular citybus services.

It also has its own community shopping facilities along Baroona Road.

Milton also has a strong commercial office precinct located between Coronation Drive and Milton Road as well as an extensive array of cafes and restaurants along 'Euro-precinct' of Park Road.
